Hello! 

I’m Julia, a freelance illustrator based in Hamburg. I completed my Master of Arts in Illustration at HAW Hamburg in the summer of 2024, specializing in editorial and board game design. Prior to this, I honed my skills in digital frame by frame animation during my bachelor’s degree, a background that adds a sense of movement and rhythm to my illustrations. I’ve gained experience in a wide range of creative fields, all while immersing myself in the book market during seven years of working at a comic store alongside my studies. (Fun fact: I even have a bachelor’s degree in maritime transport and port management from a previous chapter of my life!)

My work often explores the interaction between inner and outer worlds, also plants are a constant source of joy and inspiration for me. With a deep appreciation for pop culture — ranging from films and music to the wonderfully hyperbolic world of wrestling entertainment — I bring a broad understanding of visual storytelling to my projects.

I aim to create thoughtful, detailed work designed to evoke a certain atmosphere in the viewer. Whether it’s vibrant color palettes brimming with energy or the sharp elegance of black-and-white designs, my work reflects my versatility and love for storytelling. I’m endlessly curious and love diving into new topics, always eager to learn and grow.

When I’m not at my desk, you’ll find me knitting socks, experimenting with new recipes, or enjoying some retro gaming on my Super Nintendo.
